Landscape
Description: The emotion that I was trying to capture in this image was a sense of like, for guys, that girl that pops out to them from the crowd, and a sense of a person that stands out in front of the crowd. The image did have an impact on me because I try to stand out the least, and in this photo, I'm the flower that stands out.
Analyze: I think that I used the rule of thirds to my advantage, because the flower is not right on the middle, it's to the side. The depth of field is good in this photo because is is blurred, but not blurred so much that you can't see the little details on the ground, or to the side. The depth of field does support the idea.
Interpret: The photograph is strong, but not strong enough. It does communicate the message, but it doesn't leave you breathless. It is interesting to look at, but it needs more strength. To make it stronger, I could change the positioning, or make it brighter.
Judge: I think that overall it was a successful picture because it captures a message, the lighting is terrific, depth of field is good, and I used the rule of thirds, so the flower isn't in the middle.

Portraits with Landscape
Describe: The purpose of the photo is to put more portraits that are interesting, and mix it in with landscapes that are interesting. And I wanted to combine what I think are my best photos.
Analyze: It has no depth of field because the pictures fade into each other. The pictures use the rule of thirds also.
Interpret: The meaning of the photo is to combine all of the photos I like. The picture is pretty and calm.
Judge: The overall picture is good. I like the way everything goes together with everything.

Landscape
Description: In this shot, I was trying to capture the essence of life. I was trying to make each leaf from the tree symbolize a moment in your life, whether it was good or bad. And I wanted to capture a good portrait of this tree.
Analyze: This image doesn't have a depth of field, which I was trying to do because I wanted to blur the background of the school, which I don't like. For the tree, I used the rule of thirds to make it look more dramatic. I also used photo shop to make the tree brighter, and to make the leaves a brighter green.
Interpret: If you analyze the picture a little more, it does serve a good message. One thing that I should have done to make the picture stronger is to change the background.
Judge: I think the image was a maybe because the background was the only thing that ruined the piece. Otherwise, everything else is good.

Landscape
Description: In this image, I'm trying to take this picture of landscape, and the purpose of the gray is to make the spider web stand out. I wanted the gray to be a fog like color so that the image would feel calm, but different at the same time.
Analyze: This image has a really good depth of field. It really blurred out the background, which I like because your not distracted with the background as much. The rule of thirds in this photo is hard to describe because the photo is overwhelmed with a lot of the flowers.
Interpret: I don't think this piece has a message at all. I don't think this image needs to be stronger.
Judge: I think that this photo works because it is a good landscape photo. And the overall photo was good.

Landscape
Describe: In this image, I was trying to capture a Medieval essence by making the background black and white, which gives the photo an older look, and I made the black and white on the flower really pop so that the first thing that anyone would look at is the flower.
Analyze: I like the depth of field in this photo the most because it looks like your in, for example, a king's garden back in the day. I wasn't really trying to add the rule of thirds into the shot. I just wanted the flower to take the whole photo.
Interpret: This piece was more of a landscape piece, because I was trying to capture old in this piece.
Judge: Overall, the piece was good. It captured what I wanted to capture, which was a nature piece, but also an oldies piece as well.

Landscape
Describe: In this picture, I was trying to capture a forest scene. I was also using texture, because the tree has rough bark. I made it black and white because I wanted the old forest look.
Analyze: The depth of field makes the photo tell a story, and the black and white on the photo makes it look abstract and it tells you old forest scene.
Interpret: This piece is a landscape piece, because there aren't any people on there.
Judge: Overall, I really like this photo. It's different and abstract. I really like the depth of field and the rule of thirds made it stand out.

Landscape
Describe: In this picture, I was trying to capture a simple landscape theme, which are flowers. I wanted to capture a scene in the rain forest, where everything is wild, but pretty at the same time.
Analyze: The picture has a nice depth of field, which give's it a rain forest look. Even the fly that landed on the flower gives it a nice touch. The rule of thirds helps this photo bring out the forest part in the photo.
Interpret: The photo is a nature photo, because no one is in the photo.
Judge: Overall, the photo was good, because the rule of thirds was used, the lighting was good, and I really like this shot of like a wild, nature photo.

Landscape
Describe: In this photo, I was trying to capture a nice landscape photo. The lighting in this photo was great because the colors of the flower and the leaves really stand out.
Analyze: I like the depth of field because you only notice the flower, and nothing is distracting the photo but the flower. The rule of thirds make the flower look 3-D.
Interpret: The photo is simply a nature photo. It has no meaning, I just wanted a nature photo.
Judge: The photo is okay, I just need to come up with a meaning for my picture. That's really the only thing wrong with the picture.

Portrait
Describe: In this picture, I tried to combine nature and portrait. The whole photo is a portrait, and the meaning of this photo is to show a natural side to her. I did change the lighting of the photo because the photo was really dark, and to bring out the natural side of her, the light that I used was very soft, not hard.
Analyze: The depth of field works in this photo because the background is a little blurred out, but you can easily tell what it is. For the rule of thirds, I positioned her face towards the light and used a scrim to also get that softness on her face.
Interpret: I still don't really have a meaning towards the photo, but there's just a hint of innocence on her face that really brings emotion to the photo.
Judge: I really like how the photo turned out. I was originally going to throw it away, because it was too dark, but when I lightened it up, I really liked how her face came out really soft, and I really like this portrait compared to my other portrait that I have on here.

Landscape
Describe: My whole focus for this photo class was to practice more on landscape, and this photo was pretty basic, but I wanted to bring the same emotion of a person that stands out a lot with this photo, because I did the same topic with another photo, but I think that this photo showed that emotion more than the photo that looked similar to this one.
Analyze: The depth of field in this photo gives out the emotion more than the other one, but the way that I took this photo really brings out the message of the photo. The rule of thirds is all over the place, but the one that you look at the most is the one that's in focus, the one to the left, but you do look at the ones out of focus also, to get the message of the photo.
Interpret: You can already tell the meaning of the photo, but I think that there's no emotion in it.
Judge: I think that the photo is good, but it needs to be stronger. There's not really any emotion reflected onto it.

Landscape
Describe: A few hours before I took this photo it rained. This photo is what I was trying to achieve this year. I really wanted to capture a natural photo like this one. The light came out at the time I started to take pictures, so this photo came out a little dramatic and natural.
Analyze: The depth of field in this photo is noticeable, but you also notice the little things on the ground too. I tried to make the plant take up the whole picture, but to make it more dramatic, I took the picture so that it faced the sun.
Interpret: There's no meaning to this photo, I was looking at all of the flowers and plants to see if any of them still had water.
Judge: This photo came out really good. Out of all of the nature/landscape photos that I have, this one was the one that came out the best.

Landscape
Describe: The day was pretty foggy, so I wanted a landscape photo that matched that cold day. The leaves were the perfect shape because this type of leaf is used for Thanksgiving, and that is the theme for this picture. The sun was starting to come out, so I had to take this one in a hurry so it would come out the way I wanted it to come out.
Analyze: The depth of field makes the photo look older with the skinny branches and the older leaves. The branch comes out from the left side, so the leaves aren't exactly in the middle. Some of the leaves are positioned on the right, and some on the left, so the rule of thirds on the leaves is mixed up.
Interpret: The meaning of this photo is expressing the cold and gloom of winter. This photo expresses the beauty of winter, but also captures the cold of winter.
Judge: Overall, the photo is a good photo because the rule of thirds and a theme that expresses the photo.

Landscape
Describe: This photo expresses winter as well. The colors of the flowers are bright and the background is a little dark, so it makes the color of the flowers stand out more.
Analyze: The depth of field on the photo makes it a little more dramatic. There are not rule of thirds because the focus point is on the middle.
Interpret: The meaning of the photo is winter, but this is more of a landscape photo.
Judge: The photo is good except for the rule of thirds on this photo. That's the only thing I would correct on this photo.

Landscape
Describe: This photo is another one of the winter photos. The plants look wet because it rained earlier in the morning, and these plants were still wet. If you notice, the soil looks wet.
Analyze: There is no depth of field on this photo. I took this photo so that the it looked like a screen saver from a computer. I took it so that when you look at it, you feel calm.
Interpret: The meaning of the photo is winter photo, but include the rain of winter.
Judge: The photo is good, but it needs more depth of field to make it more dramatic. Otherwise, the photo is pretty good.

Portrait in Landscape
Describe: In this picture, I wanted to combine a portrait with different landscape pictures. I wanted to express a sense of calm. The picture is a combination of my best photos. I took all of them on different days, and on a different weather climate.
Analyze: All the photos have depth of field. All of the photos apply to the rule of thirds. The primary picture, which is the portrait, looks invisible because the leaves show.
Interpret: The meaning of the photo is to show a sense of calm, since the girl of the portrait is smiling, and the colors of the landscape pictures are very light.
Judge: Overall, the picture is strong, because the picture has three of my best photos together.

Mirror Project
Describe: In this picture, the assignment was to use the mirrors in any way we wanted to use them, but we had to show something in them. Since I like to use plants and flowers in my photos, I chose to use a tree in the mirror, and the ground around the tree as the background.
Analyze: The photo has some depth of field, but not a lot of it. The main focus of the picture is the mirrors. That's why I made the ground gray so that the mirrors stand out. I used the rule of thirds for the mirrors.
Interpret: The meaning of the picture is to combine the things I like to use in my pictures, and put it all together in this one photo.
Judge: I like my picture because the mirrors stand out more than the background, and you focus more on my focus point, which are the mirrors.

Lighting Picture
Describe: For this picture, the assignment was to use a different kind of lighting to light someones face. I used a gold, shiny board to light her face with the little light that I had to use. I had to retake the picture a few times because of the background.
Analyze: The photo has depth of field so that it doesn't look like we were at a school, and so that you would focus on her face. The photo follows the rule of thirds, because she's off to the side.
Interpret: The meaning of the picture was to show her happy, kind personality. And it also shows the lighting in her face, because the right side of her face is lighter than her left side.
Judge: Overall the picture follows every rule, and I like my picture because of the expression on her face and the background is interesting.

Graffiti Picture
Describe: The assignment was to use a number or graffiti and make it have a meaning. I used the number one and a model in my picture.
Analyze: Only the one has depth of field. The photo doesn't have the rule of thirds. I put the one towards her face so that you would focus on both the one and her.
Interpret: The meaning of the photo is to symbolize that she has no family nor any friends, and she is trying to make it in the world with no one helping her. That is also what the one means.
Judge: Of all of the pictures, I like the meaning of this picture the best. It made me think of the many people who can't rely on their family to get them through certain situations, and they have to make it on their own. I like the picture itself also, because it carries emotion too.

Home Photo
Describe: The assignment was to take a photo of our neighborhood, and what it represented to us. I looked at my teacher's example, and I came up with this photo.
Analyze: I wanted the photo to look as flat as possible so that I could capture the old and rusty look. There was no rule of thirds, since everything in the photo was scattered.
Interpret: I wanted to capture the old and rusty side to my neighborhood. In some cases, my old and rusty neighborhood looks scary and lonely at the same time, as if people abandoned their homes.
Judge: At first, I was having a really hard time thinking of an idea for the photo, but I looked at my teacher's photos, and that opened up my mind to new ideas, and that's where this photo came to be.

Scary Photo
Describe: The assignment was to take a photo of what scared us. And what scares me the most are ghosts.
Analyze: There was no depth of field, since the picture is supposed to have a dark background. The person and the candle aren't right in the middle, they're centered more to the left.
Interpret: The meaning of this photo is trying to capture what scares me, which are ghosts. I wanted people to think that I was haunted by a ghost, and its face showed when I lit the candle.
Judge: I already had a mindset for what I wanted to do for this photo, which was the ghost theme. I really had fun setting the photo up, and seeing the end results. I loved this assignment.

26 Blurred Photos
Describe: The assignment for the day was to photograph 26 photos that all had to be blurry. I tried to photograph what I liked, which was plants and flowers, and focus on the shapes and colors.
Analyze: There was no depth of field in this photo because everything had to be blurred. There was no rule of thirds. I only focused on the shapes and colors.
Interpret: With this assignment, I experimented with many of the shapes and colors of the school. For me, it felt like a laid back assignment, where we could just experiment with our surroundings.
Judge: Overall, I thought this assignment helped me recognize the different shapes and colors. I had fun with this assignment, and if I go out to shoot on my own, I'll experiment with the blurred shapes and colors.

Portrait with a Blurry background
Describe: The assignment for the day was to take a portrait, but only have the person in focus, and blur the background. I decided to use one of the tree photos I took for the blurry assignment, and combined it with a portrait.
Analyze: For this photo, I couldn't use a depth of field because if I did, the background wouldn't be blurred.
Interpret: This assignment was harder because you had to put the person closer to you, and you really had to back away from the background you wanted to use. I liked how my picture came out, but I really didn't like how much work it took to position the person, and to get the person in focus and the background blurred.
Judge: Overall, this wasn't my favorite assignment. I liked how the photo came out, but I didn't like how much work it took to get this picture.

Group Photo
Describe: The assignment was to shoot a photo with the group that we were put in, and we had to look at the work of the photographer we were given. The photographer that my group was given was Mary Ellen Mark.
Analyze: For this photo, there is no depth of field at all. Everything is in focus because I want to get the photo as awkward as possible. My model is centered towards the left.
Interpret: The assignment itself was a challenge because I had to get out of my comfort zone, work with other people I didn't know as well, tell my model what to do, and still come up with a good photo was a challenge for me. I'm a really quiet person, and for me to speak out was tough. But I had to speak to get the photo I wanted.
Judge: To tell you the truth, I didn't like this assignment. I worked with two Seniors who kind of helped me, but since we all didn't talk to each other, it was something new to me, but I like the photo that I took, which is important.
